Hammer of the Gods are Leicester's very own homage to the mighty Led Zeppelin, one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Zeppelin had it all, the thunderous drummer, the master guitarist, the multi instrumentalist bass player and the ultimate Rock god vocalist. To do an authentic tribute to this band is no simple task. Any band that takes it on has to have very accomplished musicians and of course a singer who can hit those high notes! Hammer of the Gods are a tribute to the wild early days of the band, and whose ethos is to tackle the music just as fearlessly as Led Zeppelin once did....

Dan Baird & Homemade Sin
£17.50adv
Special guest Otis Gibbs
Doors 7:30pm
Here it is, the missing fifth side of Exile on Main Street. Putting Dan Baird and Warner E. Hodges in the same band is like packing hydrogen and plutonium into the same bomb: it’s not an intriguing combination, it’s a got-damn weapon of mass destruction. In Homemade Sin, you get two of the original Georgia Satellites line-up - Baird and drummer Mauro Magellan - augmented by Scorchers gunslinger Hodges and bassist Micke Nilsson (ex-Bonafide). The guitars tangle like rival strands of kudzu underneath Baird’s paint-stripping howl. This is how rock sounded in the days of red meat, no-filter Marlboros and plaster casting; the hip-shake-boogie beat of 'Hellzapoppin' alone would cause McFly’s testicles to drop!

Otis Gibbs is a man in search of an honest experience. He is often referred to as a folk artist, but he’s also a man who has planted over 7,000 trees, slept in hobo jungles, walked with nomadic shepherds in Romania, was a fifth grade yo-yo champion and once wrestled a bear (and lost). Otis has played countless, theatres, festivals, bars and house concerts and has managed to carve out a living while remaining happily independent. He has spent the last fifteen years travelling across America and abroad documenting this world, and has a story to share about each stop along the way. He’ll be featuring tracks from his seventh album, “Souvenirs Of A Misspent Youth”.

The Zeppelins
The Zeppelins capture the sound, energy and look of Led Zeppelin at the height of their fame. We love Led Zeppelin’s music, it’s as simple as that. The Zeppelins are four musicians with decades of experience across tribute and original bands. We finally found the right combination to play Led Zeppelin’s music and play it right from the soaring high range of a young Robert Plant, those unmistakeable and timeless Page riffs, JPJ’s solid but creative basslines and of course, Bonzo’s thunderous beats.?

Band Of Friends
£15.00adv £17.00door
Not just the notes – but the sound, energy and feel of Rory Gallagher, delivered by people who helped define it…

When the Irish guitarist-vocalist passed away in 1995 he left behind an eleven-album catalogue of inspired albums, and the memory of unforgettably energetic concerts. Bassist Gerry McAvoy [Nine Below Zero, Champion Jack Dupree, Deep Joy] appeared on every one of those albums. Drummer Ted McKenna [Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Greg Lake, Gary Moore, Ian Gillan, Michael Schenker Group] powered those live shows from 1977 until 1981 and appeared on Rory's acclaimed Photo-Finish, Top Priority and Stage Struck albums. The old friends have teamed up with Dutch guitarist and vocalist Marcel Scherpenzeel [Marcel Scherpenzeel Band, Wolfpin], who grew up with his bandmates' music. If they say he's the nearest thing you'll get to Rory – and that's exactly what they do say – you'd better believe them!

With a host of rebel rousing folk songs and instrumentals Mawkin modernise traditional folk material with their own touch and have since excited audiences with their artillery of loud, boisterous, foot stomping live sets. Critics of the album suggested that Mawkin might fill the ‘Bellowhead shaped hole’ so it seemed only natural to support them on their farewell tour of 2016 amongst a flurry of key festivals and UK tour dates.

The band members have a wealth of other musical experience between them with brothers David and James’s involvement with Eliza Carthy and Norma Waterson, Jim Moray, Topette!, and the two providing stand-in support for members of Bellowhead. Nick Cooke is Kate Rusby and False Lights’ melodeon player, is a professional mastering engineer and has worked with some of the most iconic producers in our lifetime. Lee Richardson, whose former background was in dance music, is an award winning producer of TV, advertising and trailer music.

JUNO Award Nominee and Billboard Top 10 Blues artist JW-Jones tours constantly, and is known for his high-energy live shows.

Jones has released nine albums, and performed in twenty-three countries and four continents. In 2015/2016, JW played over 100 high-energy shows per year, including being invited five times to perform alongside Buddy Guy, and twice with Woodstock legends, Canned Heat.

Last year, George Thorogood & The Destroyers’ management specifically requested Jones to open several of their tour dates including standing ovations at Massey Hall and Ottawa’s National Arts Centre.

JW’s latest release ‘High Temperature’ was named the Hot Shot Debut on the Billboard Top 10. From the liner notes: “Acclaimed Nashville producer Colin Linden takes Jones into new territory with warm, analog-driven tones, and a wide-range of material. His evolution as a musician and vocalist shine through on this record like never before. Real songs, real playing by real people, and JW is the real deal.” – Chuck Leavell (The Rolling Stones)
